Well, considering the catalog is a few thousand pages and about six inches
thick, its no surprise they don't hand these things out to onesey's and
twosey's out there. However, you can purchase these catalogs for about
$10-20. Even here at Lockheed Martin where we order probably $100,000+ in
materials (for model shop and prototyping) per year, its still almost
impossible to get a catalog out of them. But, we just buy them. Its well
worth the investment. Also, mcmaster-carr has an excellent website will
great searches etc... I too have a mcmaster in our state, so anything i
order i'll get the next morning. Very convenient.

Prices at McMaster are sometimes slightly (10-20%) higher than if you spend
many hours tracking down another source for the same item through another
specialized distributor. If you were buying large quantities of something,
it might be worth tracking down another supplier, but for one and two
quantity things, and your time is worth anything at all, I fully agree with
Terry on this one, McMaster Carr is great. (At the Los Angeles warehouse,
they have a UPS shipping center in the warehouse, so often, if you order in
the morning, you get the UPS delivery the next morning...)

The only gripe I have is that it's hard to get a paper catalog out of them.
