DRSSTC update - 61" arcs ;-)

Original poster: jimmy hynes <chunkyboy86-at-yahoo-dot-com>

Hello everyone,

I turned the power up a bit, and got a 61 inch strike at about 108 volts
RMS in. If I turn the
voltage up any more, I get racing arcs. The driver isn't being pushed hard
at all. I was running
it at 530 amps peak, and I tested it for 1700 amps peak. If it weren't for
my wimpy secondary, i
could do 70 joules per bang. I calculated that it was running at about 9
joules per bang, and it
was running at 125 bps. It is hard to tune when there are streamers, and I
was unable to get a
good notch. I am going to put some plexiglas rings around the secondary to
stop the racing arcs,
that way I can turn the power up more.

I put some more spark pictures on my site, and have a couple movies also.
There is a ton of info
in my logbook if you're interested.

Thanks to everyone that helped me!
