A superconducting coil, if it could built properly, would probably
give sparks that are about 8 to 10% longer.  No big difference really.

I would concur with John - little increase in efficiency. However, the main 
advantage of a superconducting coil would be in the bragging rights, and 
for that alone, I'm sure someone will try it.
