Jim, check the schematics, microSSTC is a bit different from miniSSTC   LOL
TC4420 doesn't have enable function and have only 6A peak drive current
while UCC37322 can push over 9A peak. For the Steve's Ward mini SSTC you
need enable pin as it is completely different design from microSSTC.
Kreso, check datasheet and compare to your setup... There must be something
wrong ... don't you have the chip backwards ? How about proper antistatic
handling techniques ? These chips are quite foolproof, I never had problems
with them...
