Hi Mathew, Coilers,

Be very careful handling a picture tube (CRT) from a TV or monitor!
To make them safe it's best to let the air into the tube before any
attempt is made to remove it from the cabinet. Put a heavy blanket
or coat or something similar around all of the tube except for just
the end of the neck where the pins are. Wearing safety goggles and
gloves, twist off the plastic part of the connector which will show
the glass "nubb" at the very end of the neck. Use a pair of pliers
to snap it off, which will let the air into the CRT in a controlled
and safe manner. Only then is the CRT truly safe to handle.
