     Meters can be fooled a number of ways.  In a coiling
     environment, the high stray EMI field can get into
     the analog, or digital bits (or boith...)  and drive the
     readings away froim reality.  These effects are difficult,
     if not impossible to spec/predict.

     Separately, the waveform may be distorted enough from
     'whatever' the meter is calibrated on that _that_
     effect is leading to funny readings.

     (I'm assuming the 'peak hold' function, if present on
     the meter, is off???)
