Steven,
No, a little nail polish won't do at all!!! Please give up and rewind your secondary. If you attempt to run your coil with a multi-layered secondary you are liable to start a fire or worse. You say you need to complete this coil to make a grade at school. Do you get a good grade if it doesn't work? You certainly aren't the first person to make a mistake on their first coil. Try E-Bay for some magnet wire. I recently bought 3 lbs. of 26 AWG for $20. Sometimes you can get it for even less than this.

I insulated each layer with a whole lot of nail polish.
Would that be OK?

99% of the time more than 1 layer is bad unless you go to extreme measures to insulate it (.125" thick layer of kapton film between layers/potting in SF6 or oil/etc) which most of the time just much cheaper to use a bigger coil form with 1 layer. As is I'm willing to bet that your coil will short itself out and maybe catch fire if the input power is decent.

Not yet, I, still waiting on the caps.
Why, is this a bad thing? (8^0)
Now I'm worried.
Should I be?

Steven,
Am I understanding you correctly that you have wound more than one layer of wire on your secondary coil?? Have you run this coil successfully yet?
