Re: MMC Cap voltage rating ???

Bargain Bags tend to not be suitable for Tesla Coil use. . . . What is the make, model, and part number of the capacitors you've purchased?

The voltage rating used will depend on the type of caps you have. A self-healing, high-current type should be able to use the DV cap voltage. A self-healing, low current type will want significant derating to bring the current down to a managale level (more strings). A non-self-healing cap, like mica, will want even more derating.

The AC rating of a 1500V film cap will be around 500VAC depending on make and model.

Best regards,

I bought a bargin bag of .1 uf 1500 VDC caps on ebay for an MMC
cap. I forgot how to figure the AC rating of a capacitor if I know
the DC rating. What is the AC rating of a 1500 VDC cap?
