Re: Litz Wire

Is this true with dc-dc converter transformers (ferrite cored) as well? I was thinking of winding one (+/-720v primary, +/-4kv secondary, 250mA, 2 kVA ) for a dc resonant tc (200khz, much lighter than 60hz version and only a small filter cap is needed). At $340 for a 5lb spool of 420/42 (similar for 40/42), if I could get away with using plain ol' 16/26 awg without losing effienciency that'd be great.

On most TCs there is no gain with Litz wire. We experimented with several
coils and found no difference under 500 khz.
