Well, it's obvious you have never tried to live on a LOW fixed income and still try to enjoy a hobby. I guess I should just quit.
As you so correctly pointed out, there probably is nil difference between polyurethane and enamel. The difference in price, however, is more like $6 for polyurethane and $2.50 for enamel, hardly 1 cents worth. I'm really sorry you think this hobby should be reserved for those with a lot of disposable income.
For some reason, over the years I have accumulated quite a bit of magnet wire and PVC can be had for free by the truly resourceful. So, I am going to try the enamel and if it causes problems, I'll just make another secondary. The one commodity I do have plenty of is time!
