You can get the 40n60 IGBTs for free as samples from Fairchild...They are good for 600volts 110amps(under 100khz). These will no doubt be the best solution for someone getting into drsstc's. I use them in drsstc's and havent lost one yet...Although Im working on it ;-)

I remember seeing the cm600ha24 (1200v 600A) igbt's from digikey for around $250 each new. Anyone got a cheaper regular source? Alot cheaper on ebay used, but it's hit or miss there.
