I have a variac (I think it's a 30 amp unit, frankly I can't remember) that 
is new, in box, sealed in foil, etc - clearly I'm not using it - I got it 
when I was thinking I'd seriously dig into making sparks, but my interests 
have changed.  If yoiu are interested, you can contact me off the list - I 
can dig it out and get the specs, and we can argue about price - I don't 
intend to let it go at garage sale prices, but certainly less than half of 
new.  There is also another variable transformer (but not VARIAC brand) on 
my web page, www.wbnoble.com - I don't remember the ratings, I think they 
are posted there.
