I think the jury is leaning towards chronic disease after inhalation of
even small amounts of Cu/Be alloys (so grinding is a particular worry).
The issue seems to be that typical onset is years after exposure, with
some people being much more susceptible than others, and in those who
are susceptible even very small amount causing disease.

Don't you mean beryllium in its pure form? In aerospace we machine
beryllium copper al the time... It's alloyed in the copper, and not that
much, for that matter. It's the only way to make copper springy.
Finger stock is made of beryllium copper.

Cameron. Beryllium is toxic to human tissue in all forms, Only the
crystal oxide is stable enough to be in contact with skin with out
causing a cancerous ulcer. in the lungs it is fatal. I recommend not
using it and never grind it with out protection. Use a protective mark.
