GFI-ed NSTs

Original poster: "miles waldron" <mileswaldron@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Dear All,

I managed to scrounge up two Franceformer 12KV 60ma NSTs. One has a GFI, and
the other is rated at 220 instead of 110 for the input. Well, well, well, I
am thinking that I can just open up the tin and compare the two and figure
out...

a) how to remove the GFI
b) maybe how to readjust the 220 to 100, like some other transformers that I
have

Cracking open the tins I see !!!!!!!!!

A huge black blob of indestructable rubbery plastic. Yuck!

:(

Is there some way to dissolve that horrible stuff so I can tinker with the
mechanism inside. Is the horrible black stuff a necessary insulator? Am I
just crazy, and there is no possible hope of ever "fixing" either of these
NSTs?

Sincerely,

Miles
