Dirk,
I have used cylinder gaps with 3/4" and 1.25" copper fittings that have worked well. Also I have posted information on a series gap that uses large copper washers with rubber spacers that works very well with small coils (see archives on "super gap") or contact me off list.

Subject: Spark Gap Design

What is the benefit of building a multi-gap spark gap using copper
pipe segments within a large diameter pipe (such as 5")? This design
seems difficult since you are drilling round stock and cant
adjustment be difficult? What type of designs do you suggest as an
alternative?

Thanks,
Dirk
