Here is a link to the wikipedia on Beryllium oxide. Sorry, if you have already looked at this.

Gerry is right, just dont powerderize it and breath it in, you should be ok. Although it is

listed as "Highly Toxic (T+)", so I would still wear gloves when handling it.

Hi Godfrey,

I suspect there is no problem as long as it remains in ceramic
form. Just dont powderize it and breathe it in.
Dont know what the insulating properties are of beryllium oxide.
