Mine's got aluminum windings and hasn't had any
problems:

I'd be more concerned with aluminum windings in a
welder used for a ballast. The pig's designed to be
overdriven, even at scorching outdoor temperatures.
Aluminum windings have got to cut down on weight as
well. However, if the price were the same, I'd go
copper.
