Original poster: <davep@xxxxxxxx> Some Years ago, we were in Kings Canyon National Park. Rangers showed us trees that had lighting scars down the sides. Quite identifiable. Most of the moisture (aiding conductivity) aand 'life' is in the layer just under the bark, so that takes the hits, dissipates the energy, has the damage. best dwp
