Phase shifter problems

Original poster: "Christoph Bohr" <cb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hello folks.

I know this has been widely discussed, not reason for me
not to come up with another problem ;-)
Yesterday I had my first try on a phase-shifter.

I lashed everything up on the workbench, 10A
230V Variac in series with one line and a 7, 14 and 68µF
cap in parallel with a former 370Watt Motor which now runs
at 220W syncronous.

With minimun inductance the RSG starts up normally, at
25% variac setting the motor looses sync, though the voltage is
still high enough that it should keep in sync.
At least it sounds like it looses sync, I havent tried this yet.
At 50% it rapidly starts loosing rpm and finally stops altogether.
I can not observe any resonant rise, the effect is the same with
all of the three capacitors I mentioned above.

Unfortunately I can not give any number regarding the L of the Variac...

Can anyone give advice how I should proceed?

best regards

Christoph Bohr
