Hi Bart,

I ended up firing off the Green Monster last night and
I was noticing the same issue again. My massive bal-
last inductor is just not quite enough ballasting by itself
and I can't turn the variac up past about 70 or so w/out
the ARSG starting to poorly quench and if I turn it up
even further, I even get an occasional dreaded racing
spark. However, the 1.25 Ohm resistance (which is a
.5 Ohm and a .75 Ohm high wattage, power resistor,
in series), the output is seriously choked back and I
have to turn the variac all the way to 100 to get decent
performance. Well, last night, I came up with the idea
of removing the .75 Ohm resistor and going with just .5
Ohms of resistance for ballasting. This seemed to be the
answer to the problem ;^) I can now turn the variac
past 90 before the RSG starts to show any signs of being
overpowered and the output sparks are still very bright
and powerful looking as they were w/out any resistance.
