RE: "TELSA COIL" AT GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY

I've watched the MASM coil in action here in Arkansas during a recent
IEEE private showing, and I must say it is impressive. This coil here is
one of the main reasons for the success and viability of the MASM.

Hello Ed and all.

My wife Francis and I were given a VIP invitation to the ribbon
cutting cerimony
at Griffith Park Observatory last Thursday November 2. The cerimony was
at
4 p.m. PST. There were about 1,000 attendees there an a lot of
media/press.

The coil is working very well and produces bright power arcs to the
Faraday
Cage that encloses it. This Faraday Cage is a true work of art,
beautifully
constrcted out of polished copper rectangular tubing and 1.5" square
copper
mesh. The new alcove that houses the coil has its own dedicated HVAC
system and can replace the entire cubic volume of air in the exhibit in
90 seconds. The ozone and oxides of nitrogen are vented to the outside
of the building.

As soon as I can get my webmaster's help, I'll post many new pictures of
the reinstallation as well as of the opening cerimony. This event was
truly
what is called "coming full circle" for me. It was the GPO Tesla Coil I
first
saw in 1957 at the age of eight, that changed my life forever. I know
this
coil and the Observatory itself, has had the same impact on may others,
including Mr. Richard Mathias who now oversees the Mid America
Science Museum in Hot Springs, Arkansas. MASM has the second
one-to-one scale model of GPO (known as GPO-2). Images of GPO-2
are on my web site at http://www.ttr.com.

Best regards,
Bill Wysock
