The MMC type caps work good on small and medium size SSTCs and also
SGTCs. These are typical coils powered by nsts (the SGTC type).
Usually at power levels above 6-7 kVA, where the peak pri currents
exceed 2,300 to 2,500 Amps, one makes the transition to commercial
grade pulse duty caps rated 60 kV, typically at 0.05 to 0.2 uF
range. We use 0.06 uF (60 nF) in the 6-8 kVA range, and 0.1 uF (100
nF) in the 10-15 kVA range. I go to 0.2 uF above 15 kVA and around
0.3 uF at 25 kVA.
There has been much discussion about the "right" cap for a SGTC or
even a SSTC.
