Re: [TCML] Arc Temperature - Dover book

Hi Phil,

You're right! The average price for what was the "inexpensive Dover
edition" is now ~$75!! There was a "fair condition" one for ~$32, yesterday, but
it sold within minutes of being posted. As another example, I have a
paperback copy of Brinley's "Rocket Manual for Amateurs" that I bought brand new for
$0.75 back in 1960. It now goes for over $100, if you can find one.
Since I live in a predominantly redneck state, technical books at the
main library have a relatively short shelf-life. Guess who's there every year
for their annual book sale? ;^)))

It was published as an

everything that was in Somerville.

FWIW, I received the a 1st edition copy of Cobine's as a birthday
present this year. NOT inexpensive. They really don't make books like they
used to!
Lots of "practical" info beyond all the arc theory. I found the stuff on
welding arcs, lightning arrestors, fuses, Lichtenberg figures, mercury
rectifiers, all kinds of other gaseous rectifiers, discharge lighting
sources, and
electron beam focusing/deflecting very interesting.
