Re: [TCML] Effect of doubling the input current

Hi Phil,

Well, seems that way. I am lazy ( I don't always unplug everything, and I've paid for it at times). The RFI filter will dump some stuff, but not everything (there's still a lot of crap that will be seen on the mains thanks to those spark gaps). Our washer and dryer is old (no boards, no chips). It's funny, I was thinking about upgrading them with new variable speed types, but considering my lab is also where we do laundry, I think I'll just stick with these old trustworthy no frills appliances.

BTW, my wife got a laugh when I told her about your "situation". She's had her share of "me" doing things like that. She also made the mistake of collecting copper bowls for wall ornaments (funny how long it took here to realize they were missing ;-) ).

It seems the answer must be yes, as the machine was unplugged, so the surge
can't have come up the mains lead (the coil has a RFI mains filter anyway)
The engineer came today and the main control card has blown, but it showed
no physical signs of damage - burns etc. So when anyone next fires up inside
be carefull, or it can be very expensive. I always unplug everything, but
this is clearly not enough as an unexpected streamer reached the machine.

Hi Phil,

Yes, I didn't realize you were in the UK. So a 1.48 ratio. Even better! You should do fine there.
Sorry to hear about the washing machine. Did a strike hit it?
