Thanks for the reply. I thought they was a way that had been tried before ,
I will have to look into the de-Qing diode. Not being a EE I did not
comprehend all that I should have when I saw that de-Qing diode.
The transformer was a 240/4160 1amp CCS with some secondary windings removed
, I was looking for a 5Kv DC tube supply originally . It has 18 ga secondary
so I know I can pull more than one amp at intermittent service. It is a 78lb
beast.
I was going to sell if for a plate transformer, it was for my 4-1000A's  ,
no longer needed now.
Is the charging choke just for current control?
I have a choke control on my 13Kv 1.9 Kva transformer, coil set up now.
