Re: [TCML] Beyond 60 Hz

Hi DC,

Not having built such a driver, I'm curious why the low V and large C is needed. Is this a limitation of the switching?

No, it's a solid state driver that operates at the resonant freq of the
coil's primary LC tank circuit frequency. The signal is modulated and
drives the IGBTs which in turn drive the energy into the coil thus the sec
spark plays both audio voice and music.

Uses low voltage and large capacitance, not high voltage and small
capacitance.

I'm making up a group of driver boards. Tested two last month, and made a
few small changes. Running the finals batches the first part of August.

Contact off list in Aug if you want one.

What is required to create musical notes with a Tesla Coil ?

Can a classic TC with a 12/60 NST and multi-gap spark unit
be changed by swapping to a solid state 'spark' drive
or must the system be totally redesigned ?
