RE: [TCML] OBIT Questions



After they have been frozen, short the secondary and run the transformer for
an hour or so. The heat will thaw a layer of tar so you will be less prone
to damaging the conductors.

DISCLAIMER:  I do not know if OBITs can withstand a dead short like NSTs --
the above advice is specific for NSTs.  That being said, if the OBITs have
the same sort of current limiting shunts, that would be the way to go...
