Re: [TCML] GU5B VTTC

Hi, considering you lack of supplies and parts, very nicely done...brian f.

Hi list

I added a staccato controler to my VTTC and 2 more MOTs on my source (that's 6 little MOTs in serie-parallel).

The second light was very satisfying:

Re-tuning for streamer loading gave much better sparks, up to 80 cm:

The power cord is hot after short runs even at such low pulse rate, but I think that this tube would give much better sparks powered by an appropriate plate transformer (too pity that I have none, even more MOTs). I enjoyed to work on this project.

Best regards

teslina

Hi Teslina,

Excellent job and results !

Most variacs here in the US anyway can handle a lot more
than their rated power for short runs. I've run 150
amps
through a 22 amp variac, but only for a second or less
while
I was tuning up a system :) I
turned it up, then right
back down as quickly as I could !

Cheers,
John

Hi list

I had the first light for my new VTTC with a GU5B tube (had
a little vacation to
spare for this old project finally).
The construction is documented with pics on the 4HV forum
here:

http://4hv.org/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?72084

First light: 60 cm sparks to a grounded rod.

Still using 2200 V weak MOTs in my doubler. I will try to
find higher voltage
output ones (2500 V), this will give at least 4-5 inches
more in the spark
lenght.

This old russian stuff is simple great.
