seldom similar.  This video would certainly indicate that the spark

channels are not completely random and also not the result of cosmic rays
--- unless they occured in exactly the same locations.

I'm pretty sure the streamers follow ion trails which are formed progressively like the leaders in a lightning stroke - the ions don't recombine very fast and tend to stay in the same place unless there's motion of the air. The fact that you can blow streamers around with a blast of air must confirm that.
