[TCML] Cap discharge peak current estimate



is there any way of estimating the peak current discharge of a capacitor bank? say 36 350V 6000uF caps in a 6x6 arrangement for 2100V@6000uF? i'm concerned about the peak current cos i'm thinking of switching the system with a thyristor (currently one rated at 11400A max for 10ms, till i can upgrade, which is highly unlikely). this particular bank will power the last coil in a multi-stage coil gun, and i don't want the thyristor dying cos a 550A rms thyristor is not cheap. estimations will be useful in protecting the smaller thyristors up the line as well. i do not have an oscilloscope atm, nor do i know how to use one yet, though i will probably get one for future projects, but does anyone have any advice at all? i doubt any clamp meter can effectively measure the pulse discharge in milli seconds. will measuring the resistance of the circuit, coils and all and dividing the 2100V do for a rough estimate... NO? (sounds really stupid, but i really have no idea...)
