That is a classic example of a coil that will certainly have high losses and tuning response difficulties. Very high h/d, many turns of fine wire, small, etc.. The post was about 1KW at 1MHz, which is quite different than a typical small 1MHz coil. For myself, I have built something close, 750kHz coil. It was one of these small little coils with a lot of losses and problems. The only image I have of it is here (it just happened to get into the photo). It's the little coil on the right side of the picture. It was built for a buddy down the street (little 7500V, 20mA NST coil).

They gave up on that idea 40 years ago. Get the idea.
What sorts of coils have you made with which to compare?
