A single grounding stick cannot discharge ALL the caps in series. You can discharge a stack by sequentially discharging each cap, using two sticks, but it's a pain, and it doesn't accommodate the rebound phenomenon (where you discharge a cap, remove the short, and some of the voltage comes back.. it's a mechanical effect)
