Re: [TCML] RE: 942C current?

RS Electronics has 812 in stock of the 942C20P15K

Use Bart Anderson's MMC calculator to plan your MMC and currents etc.

I have just bought 120 of the 0.68uF cap in the 942 series for 2 x 0.1uF caps. The peak and RMS currents seem to fit OK and the 0.33uF versions have lasted for perhaps 4 years with one failure out of 60 caps.

Jeremy-- Call Cornell-Dubilier for distributors. Also, their technical people are excellent. ---Carl

Kind of not directly related to the specific topic, but I am also in need of the 942 caps. Anyone interested in a group buy? Dr. R, do you have a large quantity that you would be willing to sell us? If not, where is the best place to buy these at the lowest price. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I was going to order the 942C series cornell dubilier caps (2kV, 0.15uF http://www.cde.com/catalogs/942C.pdf ), but am now worried that their current (amps) ratings are too low for my MOT driven coil. Should I order the more expensive 941C caps (1.2kV, 0.22uF http://www.cde.com/catalogs/941C.pdf) although their dV/dT ratings aren't as good? Does someone know which are better for the high current output of MOTs?
Many thanks,

942 are better than 941 for TC applications.

Check back in the archives for the test data and analysis by Terry Fritz.
