Re: [TCML] telecoms protection gas discharge tube

I think I read somewhere that these can be used in lew of sidacs in a sidac IGBT driver.
But i am unsure of where i read that, or if it was even that they could be used, It might have been that they couldn't be used.

Hope this helps,

Dear List,
would a telecoms protection gas-discharge tube of the type shown here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EPCOS-B88069X880S102-GAS-DISCHARGE-TUBE-150V-/250915565662?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item3a6bbbb05e be of any use in a TC, even of the most modest capability? I know 150 volts is a bit low but there are others with much higher voltage ratings available, plus the tubes could theoretically be connected in series for a greater breakdown voltage. Apart from that are there any pitfalls to be wary of when using this kind of device?
