[TCML] IGBT H Bridge Driving info needed

Hey All...

Been "trying" to understand IGBT driving electronics, but I seem to be
finding very little in detailed schematics AND tutorial style information
regarding the hi side drivers. I have been able to get the low side of the
H bridge to operate but the hi side doesnt want to behave properly. I came
across some info that stated that the hi side driver needs to be an
additional Vg+ more than the input to the C1 of the H bridge. Ummm... how
do I do that?? One thought was to place several Diodes in series to C1 to
give me a voltage differential to create the required difference for the
gate. Example: supply is 90 VDC with ehhh 10 diodes in series for a 15 volt
drop ( 15V being a decient voltage to run the gate) and have 75 VDC at C1
to run the H bridge. BTW, this is for a motor controller to turn the variac
up and down... e.g. speed controlled and direction controlled. As far as
speed control, I can pulse the low side and drive the high side in steady
state or the other way around, OR I can drive the complete H bridge in
steady state and pulse a 5th IGBT feeding E2's of the bridge... too many
options, not enuf knowledge...
