I went to the garden tool section at the big box hardware store and
bought a rake with a fiberglass handle. I chopped the handle into little
sections and epoxied bits of wooden dowel into the ends. The fiberglass
handle was very high quality, quite precise and strong. I drilled holes
in the wood ends and screwed in threaded 1/4-20 inserts. Very strong and
good looking too.
