A good point actually!

I would like to gain 20Kv running. I want to experiment with high Q coils 
and 20KV is about as low as I can get away with. Even so would only be a 
500W coil.

I think 2 MOT's in series for in effect 5KV, then a voltage doubler with 2 
caps to give 10KVDC or there abouts. Then use a large choke to boost to 
20KV.

Question now is to work out all the cap sizes and current ratings. I do not 
think the MOT will be stressed much beyond 200mA. Just have to make sure the 
volt doubler caps can cope with supplying enough current for the charging 
choke.... a lot of figures to crunch!
