[TCML] AC powered Ignition Coil Circuit

Switch the quadrac to an alternistor which drives inductive loads better. 
Alternistors with 30 Amp ratings are available from Digi-Key Electronics.

I built this circuit years ago and it works great. Uses a Quadrac but
otherwise drives a 12 volt ignition coil from AC. The circuit was designed
to create a lightning display in a standard 5" incandescent designer bulb
but could be used for other purposes as well.

My memory was bad, and I recalled poorly.

The dimmer circuit was indeed the circuit I was thinking off - despite my
inaccurate description.

    I recall seeing this one a while back:

It is the only circuit for the ignition coil I know of which doesn't
use semiconductors. It seems like it would be very hard on the coil.
