    Make that last remark of mine that hams had a maximum allowable 
wavelength of 200 meters.  Some of the big boys managed a special 
license which let them operate at 300 meter but that was an exception.  
They all experienced problems familiar to TC fans including "kickback" 
[high peak power RF coupled into the power lines and causing all sorts 
of disruptions including arcing across light bulb sockets].  Times 
haven't changed that much.
