Hi David,

No problems there except the resistor or element used is going to get 
pretty hot. The resistance will increase the longer it's on. But also, 
the ladder is going to heat up as well while the spark is climbing, so 
then kind of balance out. Just keep an eye on the 3 ohm device your 
using and be sure the pig is on a breaker or fused should the 3 ohm 
device "short".
