The Q of individual components has very little meaning with a Tesla
coil since components do not act in isolation but are instead bounded
together through magnetic coupling.
The Q of the entire system under load will be low if the coil is working
properly.
One can make a secondary with Litz wire and use exotic materials
for the forms and the Q of the system will still be low
So why worry about getting high Q components for a system that has an
inherently low Q?
