I battled an electric shock machine in a penny arcade once (ah, simpler
times).  There was a glass-front cabinet where you could see the guts
(including what looked like a car ignition coil), and a metal handle on
the front.

You stick in $, grab the handle and hold on as long as you can while the
voltage ramps up.  Starts out a tingle, then it's definitely a shock, then
your arm muscles start to contract and you curl up, then finally you just
have to let go.  There was a large dial indicator, but it was calibrated
not in volts, but wimps, i.e. low end was nancy boy, high end was manly man.
