[TCML] 3D Tesla Coil Model

Hi All,
I've been playing around with Maya 2008 for some 3D modeling and
thought that a Tesla coil would make a nice simple object to learn
with.

Here are a couple renderings of what I have so far based loosely on my
6 inch coil:

The one thing I'm struggling with is making a flat spiral primary, so
if anyone on the list has 3d experience and knows how to make a spiral
I'd like to know.
Anyway, I hope this qualifies as on topic, I just wanted to share my
first 3d project
