advent of neodymium (NIB) magnets. They come in just about any shape

wide open. Various arrangements using permanent magnets,
electromagnets, pulsed magnets, magnets along with
static gaps, rotary gaps, triggered gaps, high power
quenching, low power quenching, etc., would all be
interesting to try.
