As noted we will be showcasing a 456 hz TC driven from an ordinary car alternator converted to three phase AC, and comparing its output with the same secondary driven by a 60 hz NST. Additionally another identical and oppositely phased 456 hz TC is in the workings to be attached to the opposing alternator phase. The method for increasing the phase angle of adjacent phasings of the alternator from 120 degrees to that of one near 180 degrees will be shown by dual channel scopings of the input voltages. This then makes it feasible to attempt a dual phased TC which is why another identical TC is being built so that essentially its combined actions then resemble the principle of a bipolar TC. The relevance of winding directions of the secondary will be noted,and why we have chosen to wind each secondary in opposite directions. By incredible co-incidence other multilayered coils wound for other purposes happen to have an inductive reactance close to
the capacitive reactance that the TC primary employs, so the actions of making a secondary power factor correction will be noted and tried. These 12 lb coils of 23 gauge wire have an operational Q factor in the 25-30 range at 456 hz meaning that when placed in parallel to the TC primary, the impedance of the the tank rises 25 fold or more, but the original reactive current remains which can be shown by direct amperage measurements that 25 times or more current can exist in the tank then is inputed by the pole pig secondary. Now there are also drawbacks to this approach which will also be noted by preliminary meter measurements. But nevertheless it seems incredible that the same current going through the 5 winds employed on the primary can issue through an adjacent coil of thousands of winds, which should certainly offer more options in TC design, such as employing this comparatively huge magnetic field to influence the primary inductance to desired
values, or employing that magnetic field for primary arc quenching. The actions of both 60 hz and 456 hz source frequency air core transformer actions using these 12 lb coils will also be shown, where the limitations of Q factor from ideal and real behavior will be noted. Our winding facilities will also be available and currently we are producing 4.5 inch PVC tube secondaries, if anyone would like to purchase these. Because of all these subsidiary issues, I will start the demo early any where from 3-5 PM on Friday. Coilers are welcome to also bring their own coils for demonstration, as we should have ample table space available.
