Hi Matt
You can do that when you put a CD next to a TC. You get a shower of tiny
aluminium flakes. While it works well at multi kW level but I have observed
it even with my mini TC.

....... What would happen if instead of a string of nails, an air hose were
used to blow little puffs of metallic dust into the air?near the torroid of
an operating coil? Of course, it might ignite the cloud, but that would be
spectacular too! ;^))
