[TCML] SRSG phasing techniques

Hello.
As Gary says John controller idea is brilliant. His site is here
http://futuret.110mb.com/

When I was running a rotary I used to adjust the main Variac to about 1/4
power then adjust phase Variac for the best spark and rotary sound. Then
increase the main Variac another step and redo (if necessary) the phase
control Variac again, and so on...
(As the main Variac power increases the spark advance increases and can mess
up the previous phase setting)

I have a YouTube video of the waveform in a test setup being altered at
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Ygx80Va2A&feature=player_embedded

The vertical spike is from a photoelectric cell the rotor is interrupting,
the sine being the 50Hz mains reference on the second channel.
Regards
Phil

I believe my old SRSG was slightly out of phase. Whats a good technique
for correcting this. I've used the florescent test and aligned the
electrode with the middle of the white bands in the past, but there has
got to be another/better solution than this.

Thanks,
Andrew
