There must be enough iron for the lowest frequency but the high
frequency limit is sort of arbitrary and determined by leakage reactance
and possibly parasitic capacitance. Whole issue is core saturation and
for any particular core area and frequency there is a minimum number of
turns per volt required. Look up transformer design on Google and you
should get plenty of discussion.
