I've seen the term "snubber" caps before, but don't know what it means. I've tried to look it up without success. I'd appreciate it if you could provide an explanation.

Frank Lee also repeatly stated" In no Tesla coil can the sec spark exceed
he length of the sec coil". It's in several of his writings.
es, he was the first one to use "snubber" caps in 1968-69.

Not to in any way diminish the monumental contributions made by Terry, but
I'd have to say Frank Lee, of Morris & Lee deserves credit for previously
using a MMC in a Tesla coil. I built my first coil (albeit a super long
skinny one) to M&L's plans in the late 60s that used about 16-20 series
connected commercial capacitors. Now, clearly Terry introduced the concept
to the modern coilers and performed elaborate testing to identify the
preferred capacitor fabrication characteristics. I still have the plans and
will try to scan them and post a link, if only for historical records. One
interesting note, M&L required a buyer to pass a non-trivial electronics
safety test before they would sell you a kit for their TC.
