Strange here too. I can get it in 50 or 100 ft lengths at home Depot.
Another source is your local auto parts store, NAPA in my case, or a
shop that does refrigeration and AC, they use that size by the mile.
I actually find NAPA to be cheaper.
Copper has shot up the past 2 yrs and is at a ridiculous price these days.
As for bending tubing, it is easy too. If you are winding a
cylindrical coil, find a piece of tubing, usually a piece of sonotube
will work, that is smaller in dia than you need, wind the tubing
tight around it. When you release the tubing, it will "unwrap" a
little to a large dia so you want your form to be smaller in dia that
the finished dia.
I even bought some nice 1/8" OD tubing from NAPA for small coils.
This is used for the oil pressure gauges, usually they have to bring
it in and it typically takes a day if the local store does not stock it.
